These are the sort of trousers that make it very difficult to choose a favourite side. Like all my Scrap Couture pieces, they're made from two completely different fabrics that somehow end up working brilliantly together.
One side features red and white stripes scattered with ice cream cones and colourful sprinkles. It has a proper seaside feel to it, especially paired with the deep navy waistband. The bright turquoise and lilac cuffs add another pop of colour and stop the stripes from feeling too neat.
Turn them around and the whole look changes. The turquoise background is filled with rainbow snails, patterned leaves and little woodland details that give the fabric a playful feel. The snails have colourful shells and plenty of character, making this side just as hard to resist as the other.
The contrasting cuffs, one turquoise and one soft lilac, tie both fabrics together and give the trousers that slightly mismatched look that makes Scrap Couture pieces so distinctive.
Handmade in my St Ives workshop from 95% cotton and 5% lycra cotton jersey, these harem trousers are soft, stretchy and comfortable enough for everyday wear. Wash at 30 degrees, line dry and use a gentle iron if needed.
Some days they'll be the ice cream trousers, and some days they'll be the snail trousers.
