These are definitely a pair for anyone who struggles to pick just one fabric. As with all my Scrap Couture pieces, each side brings something completely different, but they still manage to work together surprisingly well.
One side is covered in blue footed boobies standing proudly against a fresh green background. The bright blue feet and simple graphic design make the print really stand out, while the bold orange waistband gives the whole pair a proper hit of colour. The black and red cuffs add another unexpected detail and stop things from feeling too matching.
Turn them around and you're straight into a rainy dinosaur day. Green dragons shelter under rainbow umbrellas against a deep navy background, with raindrops scattered across the fabric. It's a playful print without being overly busy, and the brighter colours from the umbrellas tie in nicely with the waistband and cuffs.
The contrasting cuffs, one black and one red, bring both sides together and give these trousers that slightly mismatched look that makes Scrap Couture pieces so distinctive.
Handmade in my St Ives workshop from 95% cotton and 5% lycra cotton jersey, these harem trousers are soft, stretchy and comfortable enough for everyday wear. Wash at 30 degrees, line dry and use a gentle iron if needed.
Whether they're the bird trousers or the dinosaur trousers usually depends on who's wearing them that day.
